About Our Converters

File conversion is one of those tasks that sounds simple until you actually need to do it. You have a Word document that needs to be a PDF. Your iPhone photos are in HEIC format and the insurance form only accepts JPG. A client sent you an audio file in a format your editing software doesn't recognize. The spreadsheet you downloaded is in XML but your accounting tool only reads CSV. These are small, specific problems — but when you need a solution, you need it now.

The usual approach is to search for "free online converter," pick one from the results, upload your file, wait for it to process on some remote server, and download the result. It works, but there's a catch: your file just traveled across the internet and sat on someone else's computer. Maybe they delete it right away. Maybe they cache it for a few hours. Maybe it ends up in a log somewhere. You don't know, and you have no way to verify. For a cat photo, that's probably fine. For a tax return, a medical report, or a legal contract, it's a different story.

ZeroDataUpload's converters work differently. Every conversion happens entirely inside your web browser. When you convert a document, an image, or an audio file here, the processing runs on your own device using your own computer's resources. Your files never leave your machine. There is no upload step, no server receiving your data, and no cloud storage holding a temporary copy. The conversion starts and finishes right where you are.

The collection currently includes 19 converters spanning a wide range of formats and use cases. For documents, you can convert between Word, PDF, plain text, HTML, RTF, and Markdown. The PDF toolkit alone packs 31 operations — merge, split, compress, sign, watermark, redact, and more. Image conversion handles HEIC, WebP, AVIF, PNG, JPG, ICO, BMP, TIFF, and GIF with adjustable quality settings and batch processing. Audio and video conversion supports dozens of formats including MP3, WAV, MP4, WebM, AVI, and more.

Beyond media files, there are converters for spreadsheets (Excel, CSV, JSON, XML with multi-sheet support), ebooks (EPUB, PDF, plain text, and more), email archives (EML, MBOX, MSG with attachment extraction), and fonts (web and desktop formats with preview). The data and developer tools cover code format conversion between JSON, XML, YAML, CSV, and SQL, encoding and decoding for Base64, hexadecimal, binary, JWT tokens, and hashes, and number base conversion with high-precision arithmetic.

Text and language tools include a text case converter with 15 transformations (camelCase, snake_case, Title Case, and more), a cipher and encoding tool covering Morse code, Braille, NATO phonetic alphabet, and classic ciphers, and a fancy text generator with over 150 Unicode font styles for social media. There's also a color converter supporting six color spaces with a contrast checker, a currency converter with live exchange rates for 30+ currencies, a unit converter covering 200+ units across 17 measurement categories, a timezone converter with world clocks and a meeting planner, and an OCR tool that extracts text from images and scanned PDFs in 18 languages.

Each converter is fully self-contained with its own FAQ page and help documentation. We also publish a detailed blog article for every converter, covering common pitfalls users run into, format-specific quirks, and tips for getting the best output quality. Why do CSV files from European versions of Excel use semicolons instead of commas? Why won't HEIC photos from iPhones upload to certain government portals? Why does converting a PDF to Word sometimes scramble the layout? These are the kinds of questions we answer in depth — not with generic copy, but with explanations rooted in how these formats actually work.

Most online converters require you to upload files to a remote server. Your data travels across the internet, gets processed on hardware you don't control, and sits in a temporary folder that may or may not get cleaned up. Financial reports, medical records, legal contracts, personal photos — all of it passes through third-party infrastructure you have no visibility into. Here, nothing leaves your browser. You can verify this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the network tab, and run any conversion. You won't see a single request carrying your file data to an external server. The moment you close the tab, everything in memory is released.

Every converter works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge — on desktop, tablet, or phone. There is nothing to install, no browser plugins to enable, and no account to create. Most converters load instantly. The audio and video converter takes a moment on first use while the processing engine loads into your browser, but it gets cached so return visits are fast. All other converters are ready the moment the page opens.

People sometimes ask us why we don't just build a normal converter with server-side processing like everyone else. The honest answer is that server-based conversion is easier to build but worse for users. When you run a server, you have to deal with file storage, queue management, cleanup jobs, GDPR compliance for temporary files, bandwidth costs, and the constant risk that someone's sensitive document ends up in a log file or a backup snapshot. Going client-side means none of those problems exist. Your data is never in our hands, so there's nothing to protect, nothing to breach, and nothing to comply with. It's a better model for everyone.

The site is maintained by Leena Software Solutions, and every converter has been built and tested by the same team that writes the documentation. If something doesn't work the way you expect, or if you run into a format that produces unexpected results, the contact page goes directly to the people who can fix it — not a support ticket queue, not a chatbot, not a form that disappears into the void.

Each card above has a "Learn More" link to the full guide with features, step-by-step instructions, and practical tips, plus a "Launch" button to open the converter directly.
