Overview

Favicon Generator (Favicon Creator Pro v3.0) is a comprehensive, free tool for creating complete favicon sets that work across all browsers and platforms. Whether you need standard browser tab icons (16x16 and 32x32), Apple Touch icons (180x180), Android Chrome icons (192x192 and 512x512), or legacy ICO files, this tool generates everything you need in a single download as a neatly organized ZIP file.

The tool offers 6 different input methods: upload your existing logo or image, create favicons from text characters, use any emoji, choose from a built-in icon library with searchable categories, load images from a URL, or batch process multiple images at once. After selecting your input, a full-featured image editor lets you crop (with aspect ratio locking), adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, exposure, and vibrance, apply one-click filters like grayscale, sepia, sharpen, and vintage, transform with rotate and flip, and customize backgrounds with solid colors, gradients, or patterns.

Advanced settings include configurable padding, border radius (from sharp corners to perfect circles), image quality from 50% to 100%, and format selection to choose exactly which sizes to generate. A built-in quality score system analyzes your favicon across resolution, contrast, complexity, and color diversity to help you achieve professional results. The tool also generates a customizable PWA manifest file for making your website installable as a standalone app. All processing happens entirely in your browser.

  2. Edit your image (optional) - Click Edit Image or press Ctrl+E to open the built-in editor. Use Crop to trim your image (select 1:1 Square for best favicon results), Adjust sliders for brightness, contrast, and saturation, apply Filters like Auto-Enhance or Sharpen, Transform to rotate or flip, and set Background options.
  3. Configure advanced settings - Click Advanced Options to set padding (10% recommended for breathing room), border radius (0% for square, 22% for iOS style, 50% for circle), image quality (95% default recommended), and select which favicon sizes to generate.
  4. Review the quality score - Check your favicon quality score out of 100 points. Follow the specific recommendations to improve resolution (use 1024x1024+ source images), contrast, complexity, and color diversity for professional results. Aim for 80+ score.

  7. Download your favicon package - Click Download ZIP to receive a complete package containing all favicon files, the PWA manifest, and ready-to-use HTML code snippets for adding favicons to your website.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Favicon Generator?
Favicon Generator (Favicon Creator Pro v3.0) is a free, browser-based tool for creating complete favicon sets for websites. It supports 6 input methods (upload, text, emoji, icon, URL, batch), includes a full image editor, generates all standard sizes for every platform, creates PWA manifests, and provides quality scoring. All processing happens locally in your browser.
What favicon sizes are generated?
The tool generates a complete set: Android 512x512, Android 192x192, Apple Touch 180x180, Favicon 32x32 (standard browser tab), Favicon 16x16 (small browser tab), and Favicon ICO (legacy multi-size format). You can choose which sizes to include in Advanced Settings.
My favicon looks blurry. How can I fix this?
Start with a high-resolution source image, ideally at least 1024x1024 pixels. In the Image Editor, use the Adjust tab to increase contrast and try the Sharpen filter. In Advanced Settings, set image quality to 95-100%. Simple, bold designs with strong contrast produce the best results at small sizes.
My logo gets cut off. Why?
This usually happens because the image is not square or the border radius is too high. Use the Image Editor's Crop tab and select 1:1 Square aspect ratio. Reduce border radius to below 30% in Advanced Settings. Increase padding to give your logo more breathing room. The recommended combination is 1:1 square crop, 10-15% padding, and maximum 22% border radius.
I get a CORS error when loading from URL. What does this mean?
Some websites block external access to their images for security reasons. This is a feature of those websites, not a bug in our tool. The solution is to download the image to your computer first and then use the Upload method instead.
Favicon works in Chrome but not Safari. Why?
Make sure all files from the downloaded ZIP are uploaded to your website root. Use the complete HTML code provided without skipping any lines. Check that the apple-touch-icon.png file exists in your root folder. Clear Safari's cache with Cmd+Option+E and wait a few minutes, as Safari can be slow to update favicons.
Browser keeps showing old favicon. What should I do?
Clear your browser cache: Ctrl+Shift+Delete on Chrome/Firefox (Cmd+Shift+Delete on Mac), or Cmd+Option+E on Safari. You can also try a hard refresh with Ctrl+F5 (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) or test in a private/incognito window. Some browsers cache favicons aggressively, so wait 5-10 minutes if clearing the cache does not work immediately.
My quality score is low. How can I improve it?
The quality score analyzes four areas: Resolution (30 points, use images 1024x1024 or larger), Contrast (25 points, increase contrast +20 to +40 in the Adjust tab), Complexity (20 points, simplify overly complex designs or enhance too-simple ones), and Color Diversity (25 points, use 2-5 different colors). Aim for a score of 80+ for professional results.
I cannot switch tabs after adjusting the crop. Is this a bug?
No, this is intentional. It is a protection system that prevents you from accidentally losing your carefully positioned crop. When you adjust the crop area, the Apply Crop button pulses as a reminder, other tabs are dimmed, and the Apply and Continue button is disabled. Click Apply Crop to keep your changes or Reset Crop to discard them before continuing.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your images are never sent to any server. The tool works completely offline after the initial page load. Your privacy is fully protected.

Privacy & Security

Your Data Never Leaves Your Device

Favicon Generator processes all images entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript and the Canvas API. Your logos, photos, and any other images you use are never uploaded to any server. The generated favicon files, ZIP downloads, and PWA manifest files are all created locally in browser memory and downloaded directly to your device.

The tool works entirely offline after the initial page load. There is no backend server processing, no cloud storage, and no third-party image processing services involved. Every crop, filter, adjustment, and favicon generation step happens exclusively on your machine.

All image data is automatically cleared from browser memory when you close the tab. Settings like theme preference are stored in localStorage and never transmitted. Whether you are creating favicons for a personal blog or a confidential corporate project, your brand assets and visual identity remain completely private throughout the process.
