HEIC/HEIF — iPhone/Apple format. High quality, small files.
WebP — Google format. Great compression, wide browser support.
AVIF — Newest format. Best compression. Growing support.
PNG — Lossless. Best for graphics, logos, screenshots.
JPG/JPEG — Universal. Best for photos. Lossy compression.
BMP — Uncompressed. Large files. Legacy format.
GIF — Limited to 256 colors. Supports animation.
TIFF — Professional photography. Lossless. Large files.
The quality slider (0-100%) affects output file size and visual quality. 100% = maximum quality (largest file), 0% = maximum compression (smallest file). Recommended: 80% for photos, 90%+ for important images, 60% for web thumbnails.
• Convert HEIC to JPG or WebP for easy sharing
• Use PNG for screenshots and graphics with transparency
• WebP offers the best size/quality ratio for web use
• AVIF is even smaller than WebP but has less browser support
• The quality slider doesn't affect PNG (always lossless)
HEIC slow: HEIC decoding runs in JavaScript — it's slower than native formats. Be patient with large files.
AVIF not working: Some older browsers don't support AVIF encoding. Try Chrome or Firefox.
Output too large: Lower the quality slider. For JPG, 70-80% gives good results.
